Access is a valuable commodity. If everyone has access, the value is minute. That is why the digital influence in music has made the value of the billions of songs, less. Labels can’t make as much off of album sales, artists are in and out in a matter of months, the sounds being used are becoming more and more identical. Years ago it really meant something to be a platinum selling artist and producer. It wasn’t as easy to create the finished product. Everything wasn’t at the click of a button and the sounds that formed the music weren’t duplicated into your computer’s library.
Nowadays, the average producer and artist has uploaded some form of digital recording software in hopes of becoming FAMOUS.
Wait! I thought music was about the art?
Sorry guys, Since the internet and the world of apps, music and video has been used as a gateway to becoming a celebrity. The digital influence of art based media is now overtaking the entire music industry. Hip Hop is becoming a digital genre and the sounds formed have no live feeling about them. The instruments and the vocalists are nothing more than a vocalizer and a midi keyboard. It makes me wonder where and what Hip Hop will be in ten years. Will there be anymore MVP’s or just a bunch of white noise? #SAVEHIPHOP #SAVETHEMUSIC
